George Abu is an experienced Legal Practitioner par excellence with over 14years cognate post-graduate experience mostly in Oil & Gas (upstream), Legal Advocacy, Reconciliation and Arbitration, Legal Advice, Contract drafting, Due Diligence & Compliance and Administration. He holds several years of business and technology experience including strategy formulation and implementation across several industry segments specifically Energy, Financial Services and Information Technology.

He practiced law for several years in the commercial city of Lagos where he was exposed to various genres of the legal practice.

In 2004, he graduated from the faculty of law in the University of Ibadan and was called to the Nigeria Bar in 2005 as Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. In his unending passion and thirst for knowledge, he proceeded to acquire a master’s degree in Oil & Gas Law (upstream) in 2011 from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland, United Kingdom.

His prime days in the legal practice as a youth corper cuts across his memorable time with Total Nigeria Limited (head office) in Lagos where his performance was rated remarkable. He worked personally with the Executive Director (Marketing), Engr. Christopher Okonmah.

He has also worked and consulted for a number of notable organizations and commercial Law firms such as Perchstone & Graeys Law Firm, Vita Veritas LLP., Aquitane Oil & Gas (midstream), Oiltest Services Nigeria Limited (upstream services) to mention but a few.

He has been involved in an array of high-profile matters both in Nigeria and abroad to wit:

  • Successful recovery against a major Offshore Producing Company in Ghana.
  • Involved in Risk Management, Review of Policy Documents, Formulation and review of credit documents, and Debt Restructuring, Debt Recovery, Credit documents with the major banks during the Banking crises in 2009.
  • Instituting and defending cases for and against financial institutions, corporate entities and individuals.
  • Successful use of Arbitration, conciliation and other various settlement methods to mitigate against litigation and elongated conflicts
  • Due diligence, compliance and advisory.

Interestingly, in his undying passion to impact knowledge, George engages his leisure time in lecturing at Centre for Law and Business (Victoria Island, Lagos State)- Affiliate of the University of London, United Kingdom.

He has brought his wealth of experience to fore. He is saddled with enormous responsibilities with the ultimate aim of strategizing to achieve client objectives. He has formulated effective strategies in dealing with compliance and due diligence, Human Resource and implementation of client policies in order to achieve a dynamic and competitive business environment.

George is currently a consulting partner with Regency Law Firm with proven leadership abilities.

He possesses an eclectic mix of competencies that transverse the entire spectrum of litigation, Commercial practice, business development, energy and financial services.

Omo-Elo obtained a Bachelor of Laws Degree at the University of Lagos in 2004 and was called to the Bar in 2005.

He cut his teeth in the firm of Dayo Akinlaja San & Co, when he joined the firm in 2006 and gained extensive experience in litigation during his three-year stint with the firm.

Omo-elo also has assisted professionals and entrepreneurial clients with business re-organisation, foreign financing, business liquidations, real estate transactions, acquisition of ship and business and tax planning involving the formation and operation of business entities. Prior to joining Regency Law Firm, Omo-elo has 9years experience in the firm of Olatunde Adejuyigbe, San & Co where he had diverse knowledge in Receivership & Insolvency practice, Complex Debts Recovery cases and Criminal matters.

He is experienced in the most prominent legal practice areas, as well as emerging areas of the law, providing the firm’s valued clients with insight to innovative solutions for their most challenging issues.Omo-elo has been practicing for the past 15years in the areas of receiverships, maritime, real estate,  related financial services, merger & acquisition.

Ajunwa graduated from the University of Lagos in 2005 with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) Degree and was admitted into the Nigerian Bar in 2006. He practiced in the firm of Ajunwa & Co. till 2010 and was well-exposed to the fundamentals of corporate practice and litigation. He is a Consultant to Niger Delta Ministry on Amnesty Affairs.

Prior to joining Regency Law Firm, Constant has a corporate stint with Saipem Nigeria, where he worked and became the Legal/Community Relations Manager. During his stay in the Upstream Sector in the Oil and Gas industry, he acquired vast knowledge in oil and gas, pipelines construction activities, compensation to oil producing communities, damages and claims arising thereof from spillage. He brought to bear a robust relationship with the Host Communities and Saipem in the areas covered by him.

Yomi is passionate about assisting companies to navigate the legal landscape against the backdrop of exponential data & tech developments. Since data is a strategic asset and a driver of new business models and business processes, Yomi believes that data belongs on the corporate balance sheet.

Yomi has some years of experience in civil law litigation especially in the commercial aspect including debt recovery, contract law, land law, matrimonial causes, administration of estates. He has been engaged in complex data protection issues including data retention and innovative data use issues across borders.

His specialities are anything data & technology, including IT-law, corporate law, contract & ICT law, privacy law, data protection law, e-commerce law, internet liability and Intellectual property law and technology.

Ebitimi Beredugo obtained a Bachelor of Laws Degree from the University of Lagos in 2003 and was called to Nigerian Bar in November 2004. He had a stint with the firm of Beredugo & Co between 2005 and 2009

Ebitimi is highly resourceful and provides in-house training services for officers in Risk Management and Debt Recovery of Banks and Finance Houses. He is a member of Nigeria Bar Association, International Bar Association and the African Bar Association.

He began professional practice in the reputable firm of GADZANMA & CO. where he honed relative skills in commercial matters and civil litigation. Cletus has the drive and innate capabilities which are required to enhance the tempo of our operations.

Halimah is a result oriented and driven legal professional with key practice focus and interest in corporate governance, arbitration and immigration.

She horned her advocacy skills from OLATUNDE ADEJUYIGBE & CO and later proceeded to PRiICEWATERHOUSECOOPERS.

She has in the course of her career provided legal services to local and international clients on issues related to finance, banking, contracts, business advisory, intellectual property, telecommunications, oil & gas, employment disputes, taxation, debt recovery, commercial law transactions.

She is an experienced advocate with handful experience and has represented a diverse crop of clients before courts as well as alternate dispute resolution panels in mediation, negotiation and arbitration proceedings. As a solicitor, she has advised on transactions from negotiation stages to consummation and execution.

Halimah holds a Master of Laws (LL.M) from Osgoode Hall Law School, York University, Canada and a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) Honours from the University of Ilorin, Nigeria. She is called to the bar in Nigeria and looks to be called to the Ontario Bar in the near future.

Ufuoma obtained her Bachelor of Laws degree from Lagos State University, Ojo, Lagos and was called to Bar in 2007, She started her legal practice in V.E Otomiewo & Co, which exposed her to the rudiments of practice and she acquired relative skills in criminal and civil litigation.

Prior to her coming on board to Regency Law Firm, Ufuoma had a 7 years stint with Akinlawon & Ajomo (SAN) LP, where she gained more exposure to corporate commercial law, family law, land law, arbitration, administration of Estate Laws, Company Secretarial work. She managed the Company Secretarial/ compliance department of the firm.

Ufuoma is result-oriented and has the drive and innate capabilities which are required to add value to our operations.

Amaka Okonkwo

Amaka studied law at the University of Lagos. She graduated in 2004 and proceeded to the Nigerian Law School where she qualified as a legal practitioner. She later proceeded and acquired her master’s degree in law at the University of Lagos in 2012.

Amaka has vast experience in banking law, corporate and Commercial Law, Maritime Law, Property Law, International Law and Debt Recovery. She has worked closely with a lot of well-known legal practitioners viz: Akinwunmi Oyewo & Co.; Delpi Law Advisory and Itse Sagay & Co. She is currently in charge of our nascent Sport Law Department.
